Juan Alvarez

Juan Alvarez Gil (1932-2001) started making guitars in 1945 with his brother Lorenzo. They both benefited from the mentorship of Marcelo Barbero, one of the great Spanish guitar makers of the 20th century who had worked to complete unfinished Santos Hernandez guitars. Under Barbero's guidance, Juan honed his guitar construction techniques, establishing a strong foundation for his craft.
