In the mid-1970s, Gibson introduced a new range of products incorporating Moog electronics, such as the Gibson RD series guitars and Lab Series amplifiers. Although Lab Series was a separate brand, they were marketed heavily by Gibson. The Lab Series aimed to compete with high-end solid-state amplifiers like the Fender Twin Reverb and Roland JC 120. They were quite successful, especially the Lab Series L5, with high-profile users including B.B. King and Alan Holdsworth.
