The electronics on these guitars were cheap and the JT 580LP tremolo started giving me some trouble as well. My Guitar tech replaced the trem with a new OFR and nut. The tone knob was deleted and a kill switch (mini-toggle) was put in its place. the volume potentiometer was upgraded to a 500K, the 5-way switch was replaced, The jack was very cheap as well and had to be replaced. The humbucker in the guitar was a Seymour Duncan Custom Custom SH-11 (Which sounded really warm and sweet) but I needed a little more bite. I put the trem spaced TB-5 in its place.
